BI Incorporated to feature BI TAD Continuous Alcohol Monitoring System at National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center Conference
When corrections professionals gather for the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center’s annual conference today, the role of technology in improving efficiency and saving money for agencies will be an enormous issue. As a result, BI Incorporated, a national provider of technology, treatment and training services for community-based offenders, will place significant emphasis on BI TAD, a device that combines continuous alcohol monitoring and location monitoring and operates on the same software platform with all of BI’s other technologies. NLECTC’s 11th annual Innovative Technologies for Corrections Conference, which brings together the industry’s most technology-savvy individuals, will be held June 21-23 at the Westin Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale.
BI TAD, or Transdermal Alcohol Detector, continuously monitors for alcohol consumption through a noninvasive skin sensor worn on an offender’s ankle, includes radio-frequency and is compatible with GPS monitoring capabilities. Individuals on the system can be monitored for curfews and alcohol use with the same device. TAD’s advanced alcohol monitoring system is a valuable tool for states and counties facing courts and correctional facilities clogged with DUI and DWI offenders and strained budgets that require them to do more with less.

BI partnered with respected engineering and research firm Giner, Inc., of Newton, Mass., for the sensor technology within the TAD unit. Formed in 1973, Giner has been at the forefront of electrochemistry research and transdermal sensing technology that offers rapid sampling since the 1990s.
