2010 Walk & Bike Month Sponsorships Up 5 Percent
“We’re thrilled that the local business and nonprofit communities have stepped forward to help Walk & Bike Month to grow and thrive even as the economy lags,” said Sue Prant, Walk & Bike Month campaign director. “This tells us that our pedestrian and cycling culture in Boulder is only becoming more important and that organizations believe they can connect with the public through what is now Boulder’s largest free event.”

BOULDER - Boulder's Walk & Bike Month organizers announced today that they've garnered more sponsorship funding than in any of its 34 years in existence, up 5 percent this year to reach $61,850 in financial donations alone. In addition, sponsors have stepped forward to offer in-kind contributions such as advertising, gear, and services, to support the month-long celebration of Boulder's bicycle and pedestrian lifestyle. For the third straight year, real estate firm Pedal to Properties is the title sponsor for Bike to Work Day on June 23. Sponsor funding pays for event permits, insurance, promotion and coordination of more than 80 events scheduled throughout June.
Boulder’s Walk & Bike Month is one of the oldest, largest and most participated-in events of its kind in the nation, with more than 80 activities scheduled for youth, adults and seniors. Last year, more than 7,500 people turned out for Bike to Work Day alone; organizers expect nearly 9,000 people this year, a 20% jump.
